Chimpanzee introduced us to the world of Oscar and his fellow young chimpanzees, who’d rather make mayhem than join their parents for an afternoon nap. “Cualquier parecido con nuestros propios niños es pura coincidencia”.

Oscar’s life seems to be too perfect to be true… And that is when Oscar ’s family is confronted by a rival band of chimpanzees, he is left to fend for himself until a surprising ally steps in and changes his life forever.

“On our story we found a very young chimpanzee with a caring mother, and then something terrible happened one night, Oscar on the forest alone with no way to survive” said Mark Linfield, who along with Alastair Fothergill directed this documentary.

“When that happened we though the film was over”, said Fothergill. “Then the most unpredictable thing happened… the adoption of Oscar by Freddy alpha male chimpanzee.”

The story behind Oscar’s life is one of a kind and has been never filmed in the wild.

“This story is impressive, this is pure altruism… you would have to ask yourself why did Freddy do that. This is selfless looking after a young orphan,” commented Martyn Colbeck, Principal Photographer.

“Chimpanzee represented a fantastic challenges for the filmmakers,” said Fothergill.

“The purpose of the film is to understand the potential of the animals (chimpanzee), the relationship that they have with each other. It is interesting and exciting as any human drama,” explained Alastair.

There is no better way to give back to our mother nature than watching and falling in love with Chimpanzee.

According to the directors Chimpanzees are very in danger. And Disneynature has teamed up with the Jane Goodall institute (led by  world-renowned primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall) to save chimpanzees and will contribute $.20 per ticket sold during the film’s opening week to the Jane Goodall Institute for the Disneynature Tchimpounga Nature Reserve Project.

“It would be useless in my continuing to try to safe those chimpanzees if we are not raising new generations better,” confessed Jane Goodall.
