“The human spirit is not measured by the size of the act, but by the size of the heart!”

And is exactly his heart that has taken Waldo Diaz to be the success behind international and renowned artists such as Ivy Queen, Dyland y Lenny and Yaire.

Waldo is also in charge of managing and creating the image for Angel y Khriz, Baby Rasta y Gringo, Karla Monroig and Nklabe to name a few.

He is not the typical publicist or celebrity manager, with just 29 years old, Waldo has spent more than 12 years in the entertainment business.

Waldo started as fan club president for singer Melina Leon, his studies in journalism landed him a job on a recognized magazine, and later on a radio show in Puerto Rico.

Even though he confessed to have a thing for journalism, he explains his passion has always being creating great media projects for his clients.  This is how WD Group was born.

Now with the new reality show “Here is Waldo”, people can take a look at Waldo’s “glamorous” world behind being a celebrity manager.

Why Here is Waldo?

“With this project people have the opportunity to see the hard work and the things that occur behind every artist’s performance, photo shoot, videos, concerts, tours or even their new projects. We want to create a show where people can feel connected with us.”

As glamorous as the entertainment business may sound, it is not always a red carpet. How do you feel now that you are in the spotlight?

“I have to be honest; it is really different to be the center of attention. The camera, the lights are not really my thing, however we have become best friends. Now when we are shooting Here is Waldo everything comes so natural, and I love it.”

How do you feel after seen the result of the first season of the reality show?

“I feel blessed, it is super cool to see not just the result of the show, but also getting the positive feedback from my peers. In our show people can learn from us and how we are constantly cuidándonos la imagen, after all if we don’t, it can turn into an bochinche ambulante. Siempre he dicho que mientras yo mantenga una imagen buena así serán mis clientes.”

How is a day in the life of Waldo Diaz?

“My days are like New York City… the city that never sleeps… my days never end…that is how I feel with the show. There are over 100 things happening at the same time… always-new, exciting things. The best part about the whole project is that we make every moment an enjoyable one”

There is no doubt that his success is getting him on the spotlight. Quién quita que algun dia su gran sueño de trabajar con Jennifer Lopez se realize.

What is the meaning of success for Waldo Diaz?

“Éxito es sentirse realizado con uno mismo. In order to be successful there are thousands of elements to follow. Every time I am managing an artist my main goal is that the artist becomes an icon. Uniqueness is one of our objectives at the time of representing an artist. Es sumamente importante que todos (el equipo) rememos hacia el mismo lado, enfocados en la meta con el artista, sin mirar lo que otros esten haciendo.”

How do you manage scandals or chismes?

“It depends on the case, we handle it on a case by case basis. Scandals are always crucial moments in the artist life, as a team we try to manage and minimize the impact that the escandalo could bring to the artist. Dejar al artista solo en un momento como este seria un acto de cobardia. Los clientes y artistas son parte de nuestro equipo tanto en los momentos buenos como los malos. Manejar un artista que este en la cima lo hace cualquiera, levantar la carrera de un artista o re-vivir la carrera de un artista que se haya caido es un reto y es en momentos como ese cuando te pruebas como manejador.”

Best advice for an artist?

“The artist needs to maintain its own essence, he or she should have the ability and capacity to redesign its career in different forms. The media world is changing and the artist has to change with it.”

Emerging Technology and Social Media is transforming the way we connect with people and consume media, how do you feel about the Twitter and Facebook mania?

“Facebook and Twitter are two powerful tools in this society; there is not a better way to connect with fans than using social media. That is a must have for my clients. Using twitter and Facebook gives us a better understanding of what people want from us.”
